So I attempted to make homemade sourdough bread this week. Began my starter last week and fed it for like 5 days. It got the sour smell and bubbles it was supposed to. The problem was the rising. It tastes ok actually but very dense and flat. Not sure I used the right flour or let it rise enough. I’ll have to try again.
Any tips for me? I scoured a few sites, Facebook pages etc. but so many different posts. I was trying to make my own wild yeast. Feeding it over a period of 5 days. I didn’t use bread flour like some sites suggested so not sure that was my issue.
I wonder if I should have used the bread machine to knead and let the bread rise in? I only let it rise 2 hours after I turned it? But maybe I needed to do it longer?
